Cibus Global And Nucelis To Provide Industry Perspective At Leading Q4 Events
San Diego, CA (October 6, 2014) Cibus, a pioneering plant trait development firm, provides cutting edge solutions to modern agricultural needs and global sustainability issues. In the coming months, Cibus executives will be featured among the industry’s foremost scientists and business leaders at the following events, where they will speak about agricultural policy, the company’s non-transgenic plant breeding technology, and how to feed an ever-growing global population.
“It’s a pivotal time in this industry, which makes it even more important to share the promising applications of Cibus’ non-transgenic technology, both with our fellow scientists and the public,” said Peter Beetham, Ph.D., President & Chief Executive Officer, Cibus Global.
Cibus representatives will participate at the following events:
NABC 26: New DNA-Editing Approaches: Methods, Applications and Policy for Agriculture (Oct. 8-9, Ithaca, New York): Greg Gocal, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Cibus, will speak about the technological innovations and commercial applications of Cibus’ products. Gocal has been central in developing Cibus’ patented technology. The council will look into the recent advent of breakthrough gene-editing technologies, which offer highly efficient and accurate means of gene editing that have been rapidly adopted by researchers.
World Food Prize 2014 Borlaug Dialogue (Oct. 15, Des Moines, Iowa): A panel discussion at the event will feature David Songstad, Ph.D., Director of Research/Cell Biology at Cibus, and lead editor of the new book “Convergence of Food Security, Energy Security and Sustainable Agriculture.” The discussion will focus on this book and align with topics particularly emphasizing the need for scientific and societal “convergence” as the key to a stable global agricultural platform.
New York Times Food for Tomorrow Conference (Nov. 11-12, Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, New York): Beetham will serve as a Super Delegate to the exclusive conference, which will explore two of the most important food challenges facing the world in the 21st century: how to feed a growing population of the world’s poor and how to reverse poor eating habits in the developed world.
2014 Canola Industry Meeting & Applying Genomics to Canola Improvement Workshop (Dec. 3, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan): James Radtke, Ph.D., Vice President, Product Development, Cibus, will speak at the event, which will examine the latest developments in the growing canola industry and recent developments in canola genomics. Radtke will speak about the technological innovations and commercial applications of Cibus’ products, including SU Canola, and its registration progress in Canada.
BIO Pacific Rim Summit (December 7-9, San Diego, CA): Cibus Global’s industrial oils arm, Nucelis, will be represented by its President & CEO Sean O’Connor, Ph.D., for the BIO Pacific Rim Summit’s Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy Breakout Program. The Summit is dedicated to the growth of the industrial biotechnology and bioenergy sectors in North America and the Asia-Pacific region.
